Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in confirmation bias in the career information search process among egoidentity statuses. Participants were selected from undergraduate students at teachers’ colleges, located in Seoul and Gyeonggiprovince in South Korea. A total of 737 students participated in this study: 548(74.4%) were women and 189(25.6%) weremen. K-EOMEIS-2 (Shin, 2001) was utilized to measure ego identity status. A selective exposure paradigm was used tomeasure confirmation bias in career information search process. In order to construct the “selective exposure paradigm,”occupational information on teachers was given. Results demonstrated that the foreclosed students showed the highest level ofconfirmation bias in the selection of information. They also showed higher level of confirmation bias in the evaluation ofsupporting information; however, there was no significant difference in the evaluation of threatening information among egoidentity statuses.
