Abstract:
The cultivation of cashew in Andhra Pradesh state is mainly confined in
8 districts of coastal A.P. The total area occupies 1.83 lakh ha with a production of 99,000 t which is second in the country.
The cashew is cultivated with Bapatla cultivars of BPP-1 to BPP-8 and new promising lines of T.No.10/19 and T.No. 30/1 from Cashew Research Station, Bapatla.
There are 211 processing units in Andhra Pradesh with a processing capacity of 150,000 t.
The W180 grade fetching highest price of Rs. 425/- per kg.
The processing industry is facing problems by Value Added Tax and Turnover Tax by the Government.
The Government of A.P. is giving input subsidy of 50% to all the farmers and 75% to SC & ST farmers for its cultivation in A.P.
