Abstract:
Ten sweet cherry cultivars (‘Regina’, ‘Katalin’, ‘Summit’, ‘Sunburst’, ‘Coralise’, ‘Namare’, ‘Naprumi’ ‘Merchant’, ‘Kordia’ and ‘Hedelfinger’) were grafted on ‘Gisela 5’ rootstock and 2 cultivars (‘Kordia’ and ‘Hedelfinger’) were grafted on ‘Maxma 14’ rootstock in 2003 and planted at a spacing of 4.0 x 2.5 m.
The trees were drip-irrigated.
At the end of each growing season from 2003-2009, trunk diameters and yield per tree were measured.
Trunks of all cultivars on ‘Maxma 14’ were with larger in diameter than those on ‘Gisela 5’. Yield of ‘Hedelfinger’ was the highest among the 10 cultivars, followed by ‘Katalin’, ‘Sunburst’, ‘Merchant’ and ‘Naprumi’. The yield of ‘Kordia’ was the lowest. ‘Summit’ had the highest fruit weight, followed by ‘Sunburst’ and ‘Namare’. ‘Naprumi’ had the lowest fruit weight.
