Abstract:
This paper discloses the performances of a new class of emulsified foliar nutritive fluids with multiple biological functions, whose core components are the micellar over basic metallic naphthenates, accompanied in all formulations by the common nutrient elements found in liquid and foliar fertilizers.
Active primary raw components and additives have been selected according to the ecological requirements for this type of products.
Three formulations have been selected to provide appropriate amounts of nutrients at the convenient uptake rates according to the early growth, full fruit growth and fruit ripening stages of crop development.
Sequential foliar application of these formulations has induced less shoot growths of about 25% in ‘Jonathan’, and 30% in ‘Idared’ than soil fertilized control.
Crop production against control was significantly 13.0% higher for ‘Idared’ and 12.0% for ‘Jonathan’. But, these gains are extending over the same interval as in the case of the best commercial biostimulant application.
Field test runs have shown good effects on the fruit quality (in terms of fruit weight, firmness and colour) and also, crop protection against storage diseases after harvesting.
Products do not change either the chemical composition nor the taste or flavour of the treated apple fruits.
