Abstract:
Pepper breeding objectives are determined by the specific characteristics as a plant species on one hand, and by market requirements and growing conditions on the other.
This determines the main directions of pepper breeding, namely the development of bell, elongated, pickle and tomato pepper cultivars of yellow, white or green fruit color at technological maturity that are suitable for field and indoor production and can be used in a variety of ways.
Special attention in breeding programs is paid to the development of cultivars with high-quality fruits both in terms of quantitative and qualitative traits.
