Abstract:
The native mycorrhizal status of cold-stored strawberry plants under different pre-planting cultural practices was investigated in Northern Italy. Plants of cv Marmolada® were monitored during the spring growing season to evaluate the effect of different cultivation techniques on root colonization by indigenous mycorrhizal fungi. Plants showed a seasonal variation of AM infection depending on sampling date, and irrespective of cultivation technique, but at the first sampling date, fumigation reduced AM root colonization. Later in the season, all the plants showed a well developed mycorrhizal root system.
