Abstract:
The effect of pollination duration on the yield and quality of tomato hybrid seed from Balca F1 and Prisca F1 varieties has been researched. Pollination was done: A) immediately after emasculation, and B) 24 – 30 hours after emasculation, with a pollen cocktail from the previous day. Hybridization was conducted in the flower's third phase. The seed quality was analyzed using the methods of ISTA. Hybrid purity was measured with a biological (vegetative) test.

As a result of the 4 - year research period, significant differences of hybrid seed yield between Balca and Prisca have been noted. There is also a difference between the treatments - the obtained yield from B treatment for Balca variety was higher by 8,6%, and for Prisca, 10,2% compared to the treatment A. The mass of 1000 seeds has statistically significant difference at a level of 0,1, between the treatments from both hybrids. The seed from both hybrids has high hybrid purity, on average 99,3% for Balca, and 99,1% for Prisca.

In natural production conditions a high quality hybrid seed, with high hybrid purity, has been obtained.
