CASSAVA PEEL MEAL AS A FEED INGREDIENT IN CHICKEN DIETS: A REVIEW

Author:   S.A. Osei
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1994.380.103
Abstract:
Cassava peel meal (CPM) is the residue resulting from the processing of cassava roots for human consumptin. It is low in energy, low in protein, and high in fibre, but has been investigasted in various laboratories as a possible alternative energy source for poultry. Available data indicates that CPM may have economic advantages in poultry diets if the cyanide concentration is reduced below toxic levels and used in diets with properly balanced nutrients including amino acids.
