ISHS Acta Horticulturae 347: II International Symposium on Integrated Fruit Production

RESEARCH ON INTEGRATED FRUIT PRODUCTION AT THE INSTITUTE FOR FRUIT AND VEGETABLE RESEARCH, BONN.

Author:   F. Lenz
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1993.347.21
Abstract:
There are regional, national and European guidelines for "Integrated Fruit Production" (IFP). To improve the component techniques associated with IFP several experiments are currently in progress at Bonn. These are mainly concerned with:
  1. the establishment of productive, healthy plant material
  2. virus elimination from fruit trees
  3. inducing Sharka resistance in stone fruit cultivars
  4. measures to overcome replant problems in apples
  5. finding alternatives to herbicide use for weed control
  6. controlled water and nitrogen supply
  7. finding training systems for better light interception and plant protection
  8. studying the effects of chemical sprays on leaf and fruit behaviour
  9. measures to improve fruit quality in apples

These current research projects and some of their results will be briefly described.
