Abstract:
We report the regeneration of whole plants from callus formed by cultured anthers of Vitis rupestris du Lot and Px, a grapevine hybrid (Vitis berlandieri x Vitis rupestris), through embryogenesis and organogenesis phenomena.
All plants produced so far are diploids; histological analysis indicates a somatic origin.
Isozyme analysis using glucose phosphate isomerase (GPI) and phospho gluco mutase (PGM) showed a genetic similarity between the mother plant grown in field and the regenerated plants grown in greenhouse.
