Abstract:
Shoot regeneration from leaves taken from in vitro shoots of the kiwifruit, cvs.
Hayward and Tomuri, was attempted on media with pH ranging from standard (5.7 before autoclaving) to 8.5. Leaf callus grew better at pH 7.0 and 7.5. However, shoot regeneration and survival were strongly reduced at pH higher than 5.7. All regenerated clones differed from control for at least one trait. pH 7.0 and 7.5 were often effective in selecting best proliferation and rooting characters.
