ISHS Acta Horticulturae 91: Symposium on Growth Regulators in Floriculture

MASS PROPAGATION OF PRIMULA OBCONICA

Abstract:
Irregular and delayed germination of most of Primula species was a serious hindrance for further rational mass production of these plants. Optimal conditions for in vitro multiplication of Primula obconica were determined with regard to explants and mediums. Young floral buds from the inflorescence gave rise to vegetative proliferation when cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with benzyladenine and naphthaleneacetic acid. Further subculture allowed a fivefold per month multiplication of vegetative buds which could be rooted by transfer to an other adequate medium.
