Laagland Archeologie heeft in februari 2020 een Archeologisch bureauonderzoek uitgevoerd aan de Peppelweg 12 te Groot-Ammers. Het onderzoek vond plaats in verband met de ruimtelijke procedure rondom de sloop van de huidige stal, gevolgd door een nieuw te bouwen grotere stal.
Het bureauonderzoek had tot doel een archeologisch verwachtingsmodel op te stellen. Centraal staat daarbij de vraag of en zo ja welke archeologische resten (complextype, datering, diepteligging en gaafheid) in het plangebied kunnen worden verwacht. Hiertoe zijn landschappelijke, archeologische en historische bronnen geraadpleegd. Op basis van de geraadpleegde bronnen ligt het plangebied niet in of in de directe nabijheid van een donk of rivieroeverwal. Resten uit de prehistorie worden daarom niet verwacht. Het plangebied is vanaf het Neolithicum tot en met de Late Middeleeuwen een veengebied en daarom meestal niet geschikt voor bewoning. Vanaf de Late Middeleeuwen is dit veengebied ontgonnen. In of nabij het plangebied is echter geen ontginningsas geweest; het plangebied is tot eind vorige eeuw onbewoond gebleven. Resten uit later perioden worden daarom evenmin verwacht.
Op basis van de resultaten van het bureauonderzoek wordt geadviseerd geen archeologisch vervolgonderzoek in het plangebied uit te voeren en het plangebied vrij te geven voor het aspect archeologie.
