A trisaccharide composed of two molecules of galactose and one molecule of L-fucose has been isolated after acetolysis of the group mucopoly-saccharide from pig stomach mucus. One of the galactose residues stands at the reducing end, and the L-fucose residue is readily split off with alkali, suggesting structure ¹G-¹G-¹F or ¹G_??_¹_??_¹F of the trisaccharide. The trisaccharide is named “gastrotrisaccharide”.
