Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5) is known to be a dangerous substance that causes various diseases. In this study, same-time detection of PM2.5 and location data was realized using a PM2.5 sensor, microprocessor board, and Android portable device. An Arduino compatible microprocessor board was used to read analog and digital data of PM2.5 sensors. Sensor output was measured by an Android portable device to display real-time PM2.5 concentration value. The device also received local data by Global Positioning System (GPS), then it stored as a CSV format log file in the memory. The PM2.5 data was compared with commercially available PM2.5 instrumentation in the smoke chamber. The data showed linearity, but a sensitivity correlation was necessary for each sensor device. Furthermore, viewer software was used to make a PM2.5 heat map and time-series graph. The visualization helps users to check environmental PM2.5 levels and hot spots in contaminated areas.
