Crystal structure of diammoniumpentasulfide (NH4)2S5

Abstract

The structure of (NH4)2S5 is characterized by tetrahedral NH4+ cations and helical S52− anions with all-trans conformation (skrew order k = 3.76; [unk](S – S) = 2.057 Å (3×) and 2.073 Å (1×); β(S/S/S) = 107.2° – 109.0°; dihedral angle = 67.1°; 68.0°). The analysis of the rigid body motion does not change the ratio of the different bond lengths. (P21/c; a = 5.427, b = 16.226, c = 9.430 Å, β = 105.31°; Z = 4; 1626 hkl; R = 0.028).
