About this book

Mainframes are increasingly coming to the fore again as part of server consolidation measures and cloud computing. Typical areas of application are the highly reliable processing of mass data (customer data from insurance companies, flight booking systems, ERP systems). This new and revised edition describes the fundamentals of computer architecture as well as operating systems and languages. (JCL, Rexx, Bluemix z/OS Connect EE).

Author / Editor information

Dr. rer. nat. Paul Herrmann
ist IBM Mainframe-Projekt-Verantwortlicher am Institut für Informatik der Universität Leipzig. Er ist zuständig für Lehre und Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Großrechentechnik, für Hard- und Software des IBM zSeries Server z114. Seit 2000 ist er verantwortlicher System-Manager für IBM Großrechner-Systeme und wurde von der Firma IBM Deutschland mehrfach zum „System-Manager des Jahres“ ausgezeichnet. Er betreute zahlreiche Bachelor- und Master-Arbeiten in
diesem Bereich und veröffentlichte diverse Publikationen.
