Abstract

Artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is a swarm intelligence algorithm which was inspired by foraging activity of honey bees and an approximate optimizing technique aiming at the function optimization. ABC algorithm has high search performance to both of the single-peak and the multi-peak solution problem, however, it includes some problems. For example, there is a problem that ABC algorithm is slow to converge to optimum solution because it makes the search process with high regard for the diversity of individuals. To solve this problem, in this research, we propose a method with high search ability by incorporating genetic operations of evolutionary computing such as Genetic Algorithm in ABC algorithm. We also report the result for the function optimization simulation performed to confirm the efficiency of our method.
