Tempskya iwatensis sp. nov. was described from the Taneichi district, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. The age of the specimen was dated as Santonian based on marine mollusca. Stratigraphically, this is the youngest Tempskya species known with certainty. The past distribution of Tempskya is plotted on paleogeographic map in relation to the Cretaceous paleoclimate.
