Abstract

This report presents a summary of the results of a sociological study funded by the EU's Directorate-General for Research. The study, called , investigated the work-life balance the goal of reconciling the demands of employment, family, and personal life in the case of Spain. The aim was to identify strategies that facilitate sustainable balance between the three. The results covered personal and family strategies that make such a reconciliation easier and contribute towards employability; strategies arising out of the context of the workplace and labour organization; and strategies observed in particular experiences and case studies. It concludes that the complexity and diversity of social situations poses many challenges to the desired work-life balance and requires ambitious and imaginative efforts by all the actors involved if it is to be achieved.
