An autoinducer-independent RhlR quorum-sensing receptor enables analysis of RhlR regulation

Fig 6

RhlR* promotes P. aeruginosa killing of C. elegans.

Thirty age-matched L4 C. elegans nematodes were applied to lawns of the designated P. aeruginosa strains (see Materials and Methods). The percent C. elegans nematodes remaining alive were quantified on each plate. Data points represent the individuals on 9 plates (270 nematodes total for each strain) and the companion colored dotted error ranges depict 95% confidence intervals. Kaplan Meier Tests were performed to compare nematode killing by each strain to that by the ΔrhlI ΔpqsE strain. P-values: *** < .001.
