Erastin, a ferroptosis-inducing agent, sensitized cancer cells to X-ray irradiation via glutathione starvation in vitro and in vivo

Erastin sensitized human adenocarcinoma cell lines to X-ray irradiation.

Abbreviations: SF = Surviving fraction; D = Dose. The radiosensitizing effect of treatment with erastin was evaluated with a clonogenic survival assay of the HeLa and NCI-H1975 cells. Before X-ray irradiation, the cells were treated with 2 μM for 24 h. The survival curves of both the cell lines were fit into a linear quadratic (LQ) model using GraphPad Prism 7. All data are expressed as mean ± S.E. (n = 3, *p < 0.0001, two-way ANOVA).
