The primary outcome was a composite of myocardial infarction (MI), cerebrovascular accident (CVA), or cardiovascular death. A higher recurrent MI rate in the IABP group than the Nonuser group (7% versus 6.9%, p = 0.001). The rate of CVA was similar between the two groups (5% versus 6.3%, p = 0.654). A higher cardiovascular death rate in the IABP group than the Nonuser group (36.9% versus 24%, p<0.001). More composite primary outcome occurred in IABP group than Nonuser group (45.2% versus 34.1%, p<0.001).
