Generally, livers from alcoholic rats had greater COX-2 (B), RANK (E), RANK-L (H) and IBA-1 (K) immunoreactivity than livers from the negative control and alcohol-CARV 5 mg/kg groups. For each antigen, three immuno-labelled sections were analysed per animal (N = 5 animals per group). Asterisk: strong labelling; black narrow: labelling to Kupffer cells (IBA-1).
