First Neuromuscular Contact Correlates with Onset of Primary Myogenesis in Rat and Mouse Limb Muscles

Fig 5

Quantitative analysis of MPC populations between E12.5 and E14.5.

A. Mean (+/-SEM) numbers of Pax3- and Pax7-positive MPCs in rat hindlimbs sampled at half-day intervals from E12.5 to E14.5. All sections were stained by immunohistochemistry and analysed using systematic counts across all muscle masses in the entire limb section, n = 6 embryos at each age (see Materials and Methods). B. Proportions of Pax3- and Pax7-positive MPCs in rat hindlimbs sampled at half-day intervals from E12.5 to E14.5. The sampled mean (+/-SEM) numbers of Pax3 and Pax7-positive MPCs (A) are expressed as proportions relative to the total population sampled.
