Each square on the self-organizing map represents the RSCU value of a codon (shown in columns) corresponding to the species (shown in rows). The color coding varies from black to red with low to high values of the RSCU respectively. The top-left quadrant shows the cluster of C or G ending codons that are frequently used in dipteran species relative to the hymenopteran species. The bottom-right quadrant represents the cluster of A or U ending codons that are frequently used in hymenopteran species relative to the dipteran species.
