Escherichia coli Watson strain was incubated with EDTA or EDTA + GML (100 μg/ml) for 24 hours and then plate counts used to determine CFUs/ml. GML (5000 μg/ml) alone did not inhibit Escherichia coli growth. * indicates mean for EDTA + GML differs significantly from mean for EDTA alone at p<0.001.
