Silk strands are indicated with arrows. Adhesive setae (as; lower right) far outnumber silk-producing setae (ss) on the tarsus. Dark areas indicate fluid or silk secretion; bright areas indicate thin layers of air between the setae and the glass surface. See Video S5 for complete time-lapse video footage of silk being secreted.
