Abstract
To introduce wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) transmission technology into fiber-optic subscriber systems, the multi/demultiplexer used must be compact, inexpensive, and highly reliable in addition to having low loss. However, few studies have been made with regard to these factors.1-3 The most important of these factors is cost. It is especially important to simplify and automate the assembly process, since assembly cost accounts for a considerable portion of the total cost. This paper proposes a new technology for assembling WDM transceiver modules that does not require an adjustment process.
