Abstract
Injection seeding is an effective technique for achieving narrow linewidth operation of OPO’s. However, it offers few practical advantages unless appropriate tunable narrow linewidth injection sources are available. In this work we have generated narrow linewidth radiation at wavelengths around 1.54 μm by injection seeding a pulsed OPO with a CW diode laser. This is an important development because of the widespread availability of fixed wavelength and tunable diode lasers in the wavelength region between 1.2 and 1.6 μm, which can generate narrow linewidth idler radiation in the 3 to 4 μm region, which is of interest for spectroscopy.
