140ASSOCIATION OF PACIFIC COAST GEOGRAPHERS THE EDITORS LAMENT The Yearbook of the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers has achieved a prominent place in geographical circles through the substantial efforts of John Gaines and Rodney Steiner over the past ten years. It was with great pleasure and high expectations that I accepted the responsibility for continuing the well-established tradition of quality and timely publication during my five-year term. Although the quality has not suffered, the timeliness has, and this I regret. I have been guilty of long lapses in correspondence that have not only inconvenienced my fellow geographers but caused potential problems with professional advancement. Vision problems, coupled with increased institutional responsibilities, have contributed to this unfortunate situation. To avoid additional delays and the withholding of quality papers by authors, I have resigned and have been replaced by James W. Scott, an editor of substance and talent. I ask for the forgiveness of those inconvenienced by my actions, extend my apologies to those upset by the delay of the Yearbook, give my heartfelt regrets to those who chose me with confidence and anticipation, and extend my best wishes for every success to Jim Scott who already has the Yearbook well in hand. ...
