Abstract

Abstract:

This article describes a community-led process to develop the Iñupiaq Learning Framework. In a narrative approach to sharing knowledge, two Iñupiaq educators chronicle their inspiration, motivation, and continued determination to claim Iñupiaq knowledge as the focus of learning. We present findings from an inquiry designed to engage community members on Alaska's North Slope in healing, visioning, and committing to bringing Iñupiaq knowledge back to the forefront. The narrative includes steps to current practice that can inform Native communities engaged in curricular reform.
