Palomides reveals a major structural pattern of alternating discord and unity in the 'Tristram' section. Though struggling with divided identities and loves, the knight eventually resolves these core conflicts through confession and baptism. Fully unified, he then leaves Arthur's court in reaction to increased conflict within the Round Table.
