The Instructional Media Production Project for Severely Handicapped Students is currently working in two microcomputer areas: developing a student-use videotape with potential for videotape/microcomputer interfacing and refining a videotape production technique that is also appropriate for microcomputer interfacing. Our experiences during the planning and production of these educational products have helped us focus on many issues in design and evaluation, such as the selection and compatibility of microcomputer hardware and software, the selection (or, in some cases, design) of adaptive interface devices to allow the severely handicapped to communicate with the computer, and the necessity for good instructional design in the development of microcomputer-assisted instructional materials.
