抄録

Sporadic prolonged braking distance due to tread braking performance under snowy environment is reported. In Europe as well, adopting ‘homologated’ brake blocks by interoperability requirements has resulted in rising attention to winter performance of brake blocks and discussion on evaluation methods of them. In the present work winter performance evaluation methods of brake blocks in Japan and in Europe are comparatively discussed together with recent case examples in Europe related to winter performance and current measures against them.
