In the case hybrid laminates are applied locally near the hole for bolted joints, there should be "transition region" where volume fraction of titanium films gradually decreased with the distance from the bolt-hole. The effects of four different patterns of the transition region with various stacking sequence on mechanical behavior are evaluated by tensile tests and 4 point bending tests. Tensile tests have shown that the hybrid laminates in which inner 0° plies are sandwiched by the titanium films and staggered layout of the film edges is adopted in the transition region have the highest tensile strength. 4 point bending tests have shown that the highest bending strength is achieved by the transition region pattern that has staggered layout of the film edges. When titanium films are inserted near the outermost layer, the hybrid laminates are easy to failure in compression due to the delamination of the films resulting in lower bending strength.
