Due to the recent food incidents as BSE and accordingly the reduction of consumer confidence, reform of food safety policies are now enforced, but there are still many problems. This paper deals with the following two subjects and give suggestions for their improvements. First, there is need for better implementation of risk analysis, so evaluative criteria are developed, and according to that the case of risk analysis for acrylamid in Germany is evaluated. Second, for better citizen involvement/participation in policy making, the application of planningcells method to food safety policy is analysed.
