Abstract

The Feces of 74 monkeys kept in Kanagawa Prefecture were examined in July and August, 1982. Shigella or Salmonella was not detected at all. Whipworms and/or intestinal threadworms were found in one of 24 monkeys kept individually as pet animals and in 5 of 6 sites where monkeys were kept for exhibition. They were identified as Trichuris trichiura and Strongyloides fulleborni, respectively. These species were of public health significance.
