Abstract (English):
In the monograph of well-known specialist, Professor B. A. Galenson, author of numerous College textbooks, studies and publications, convincingly describes a complex, poorly understood, but current issues. In a clear and intelligible manner, which distinguishes the author, at the modern methodological level, with the involvement of a material shows how in the works of many writers of the United States (Whitman, TWAIN, London, reed, Wright, Steinbeck, Hughes, Miller, etc.), playwrights, poets, writers, documentary filmmakers have embodied the idea of social justice, protection of true democracy, the condemnation of racism and fascism, were the aspirations of "the other America". The monograph can be used in the course of American literature from philologists and linguists, Humanities and language colleges and schools, and may also be of interest to a wide circle of readers.
