In order to overcome cross-incompatibility between Brassica chinensis (2x) and autotetraploid B. pekinensis(4x), excised ovaries of cross-pollinated flowers were cultured on various media containing IAA, kinetin, gibberellic acid, tomato juice, yeast extract, casein hydrolysate and coconut milk in different concentrations. Triploid hybrids were successfully obtained, and the results suggested that the reciprocal hybrids, 2x×4x and 4x×2x, have different nutritional requirements.
