Dealing With the Confused Elderly Patient
Abstract
The authors describe some of the conditions that cause confusion in elderly patients and suggest steps that can be taken to minimize or eliminate the confusion. They include simple devices to help the patient identify his room and to remain oriented to time. The authors stress the importance of verbal communication and touch.
