Benzodiazepines in the Treatment of Anxiety

In view of the conservative pattern of benzodiazepine use, its efficacy as a therapeutic alternative, and the relatively low incidence of tolerance and physical-dependence effects associated with benzodiazepine use in therapeutic doses, it is argued that the time has come to consider cost-benefit ratios when discussing the use of benzodiazepines for the treatment of anxiety.
