This paper focuses on the treatment of the battering parent by confrontation technique—a special technique in psychotherapy. A case history of such a parent is detailed. The underlying psychodynamics are postulated and the verbal and nonverbal goals clarified. Based on these an appropriate “confrontation statement” is used in ongoing psychotherapy.
