Loneliness and Interpersonal Isolation: Focus for Therapy with Schizophrenic Patients

The therapist employs the patient’s awareness of his need to achieve more satisfying stable interpersonal relationships as a focus for a therapeutic relationship and as a lever to motivate the acquisition of requisite interpersonal skills and the full utilization of available reality supports and potentially useful treatment modalities. Two illustrative case examples are presented.
