The larval instar of Meycynippus pubicornis has been considered five (5) instars from the result of measuring the length and the width of their head. The GAINES & CAMPBELL'S formula has most fitly been adapted to the insect growth.
Judging from variance of larval instar composition and field observation, it is infered that Mecynippus pubicornis usually complete their life cycle in two (2) years, but seldom complete it in one (1) year.
