In this study, the author analyzed the leakage flow in the clearance between ram and cylinder in such case as the viscosity coefficient of pressure medium in a dead weight pressure gage is supposed to be given as an exponential function of pressure and obtained the following:
where t is the time necessary for engagement length to fall from l0 to l, η0 the viscosity coefficient of the medium at unit pressure, F the sectional area of the cylinder, φ the flow function, a the pressure coefficient of the medium, p the pressure, lthe engagement length, l0 the initial engagement length, re the effective radius, ra the outer radius of the ram andrbthe inner radius of the cylinder. It was found that the effective radius is equal to the radius of an imaginary cylinder in which the flow verocity in the clearance between the ram and cylinder is at its maximum.
