Abstract

Three-dimensional displays without using any special glasses such as parallax barrier method and lenticular method. However, high resolution is difficult to obtain by these methods because their resolution is limited by the pitch of the barrier or the lens. Then, we propose a new method to solve this problem. In this method, the light from a back light is controlled in the required direction, and different images are displayed according to each direction. An observer is provided with three-dimensional images by changing the light direction and parallax images on liquid crystal display(LCD) sequentially. The resolution of this display is the same as that of the used LCD and is not affected by the pitch of lenticular lens. In this presentation, the display principle, a design concept and property of the lighting system will be discussed.
