緒言

　綱膜芽細胞腫の研究は，基礎的には，その発生起源，臨床的には，生存率や再発率，保存的療法の改善等に主力が注がれてきた。しかしながら，網膜芽細胞腫の患者も含めて，生後間もなく眼球摘出術を受けた患者のアフターケァーについては，ほとんど省みられなかつたというのが現状である。近年，医療技術の進歩，とりわけ形成外科の高度の発達や，国民の精神文化面での向上と相俟つて，幼少時眼球摘出術を受けた患者のその後について，真剣に考えてみる時期に来つつある。また，現在網膜芽細胞腫の全国登録の機運が盛り上りつつある^1）。

　本論文の目的は，網膜芽細胞腫により，幼少時眼球摘出術を受けた患者のその後について，患者から見た過去の疾病のこと，現状，精神面，日常生活等について，アンケート調査を行ない，この問題についての糸口としようとするところにある。

Questionnaires were sent to all the patients who had been treated by enucleation for retino-blastoma at Kyoto University Hospital from 1915 through 1974. Out of a total of 64 patients, 37 answered by return mail. Five of the 37 patients had been dead. Age distribution of the 32 surviving answerers were : 12 subjects in the first decade, 12 in the second, 7 in the third and 1 in the forth.

About 90% complained of abnormal secretion and 56% incomplete closure of eyelids on the enucleated side. About 60% thought of their prosthesis as unsuitable and 70% were harass-ed by facial asymmetry.
