Abstract

By the results of geologic survey, many Paleogene coal fields of Japan can be seen elongare north to south. They lie on the bedrock with a steeply-dipping unconformity plane on the eastern margin and a low-dipping unconformity plane on the western margin. The future exploration of coal fields should be investigated according to these observations.
