School and Community Synergy in Building the Character of Children

ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the synergy of schools and communities in building children's character. This research is a type of qualitative case study. This research was conducted at MTs AL-Ittihadiyah NW Sepakat. The subjects in this study were the headmaster of madrasas, teachers, foundation managers, parents of students, and the community in the study location. Data obtained through interviews and observations. Data analysis is performed through an adaptation of the spiral analysis that includes organizing data, reading and loading memos, describing, classifying and interpreting data into codes and themes, presenting data, and visualizing data. The results of this study are building children's character requires synergy from various parties and there is sustainability. This situation can be accomplished through schools making positive character building a child as the main goal so that everything done in school must be based on character education. The same situation is also done in the community environment, the community needs to exercise control over children's behavior so that social control can occur.
